The Smeltery is a Multiblock structure added by Tinkers' Construct used to smelt ores to double ingots and craft metal parts for tools and weapons.

It is also used to create Casts similar to Patterns for making these parts. The Smeltery is comprised of 7 types of blocks. For convenience, their recipies are all located here. A Redstone clock can be used to extract large amounts of ingots and blocks from a Smeltery.

To do so place the clock in any of the 6 spaces that are directly 'touching' the Smeltery's Seared Faucet and the usual Casting Table with Ingot Cast below the Faucet. Placing a Hopper below the Casting Table will suck the ingots out. Connect a chest to the hopper for extra Storage space. A Casting Basin can also be used but the set up will pour metal into the Basin even if there isn't enough material in the Smeltery for a whole block.

I have tried with both the normal seared brick smeltery the one with sand, gravel, clay yo make grout as well as the advanced smeltery the one with gravel soulsand and netherwart and neither seems to get hot enough to smelt colored redstone into destabilized redstone.

In both attempts, I was using lava as the fuel source. Does the smeltery accept other types of hot liquids as a fuel source such as pyrothium from Thermal Expansion? Question - in 1. So, what can we use in 1. If a mod adds a hotter recipe, it is on them to add a hotter fuel. As it stands no recipes in Tinkers need more heat than lava provides. Pyrotheum used to allow the smeltery to reach higher temps, but It doesn't seem to have an equivalent option in Ender IO. Glowstone block will not melt and progress indicator in smeltry GUI turns blue stating that there is not enough heat to melt the item. Recieve "not enough heat to melt item" message 3. OR just check recipes in JEI and note temps required Yeah, I know its from thermal expansion, but the recent EnderIO updates added glowgas and molten redstone to replace the equivalent TE fluids and even added TCon recipes for them as well.

There's just no good way of smelting them without something that burns hotter than lava. By itself I would think not as lava is hit by itself where fuel requires combustion the gain temp. I originally went into creative and tried every fluid added by EIO and none raise the temp of the furnace unfortunately.

Rocket fuel was my first thought too. The dust forms can be smelted, and those are easy to produce from the blocks. And as soon as you add a mod into the mix that adds a hotter fuel, it will have a use. Makes sense. Thanks for getting back about it. Thermal Expansion will either add its own and make the recipe redundant, or not have TiC compat to add the hotter fuel. Either way, the Ender IO block recipe won't be used unless there is a third mod.

I have a suggestion, its a bit long winded though. A fluid with the name "Liquid Sunshine" just sounds like it would be ridiculously hot. And bright, "blinding" even. Perhaps make the rainy weather liquid grow crops better when used in a vanilla farm setup or something like that. I don't know. Just a suggestion. Maybe someone more thoughtful could make the liquids more interesting than what I said.

I apologize, I should have tested more things. I didn't even notice the rocket fuel or nutrient distillation effects and I played with cloud seed rather than concentrated cloudseed and just saw it had no effects and that liquid sunshine was a copy of glowgas.

The Vapor of Levity is quite fun to play with for sure, but I stand by my liquid sunshine statements. Hot makes sense. This is in no way an attack or complaint man.

You can continue to add layers to your Smeltery walls. Every layer that you add will give you an additional 9 processing slots 9 slots for each 3x3 space inside the smeltery.

You will also need to add Smeltery Drains and Faucets to your Smeltery. When you place a Smeltery Drain, it does not matter which side the hole faces. If your Smeltery is a 5x5 with no corners, you cannot place the drain in the empty corners; it must be placed in one of the walls. You can place the drains at any level up and down the Smeltery; however, keep in mind that they will require a Casting Basin or Casting Table placed directly underneath the faucet to work.

These faucets will also pour into Buildcraft-compatible tanks and pipes. Liquid metal can also be sucked out by a wooden pipe from Buildcraft or fluiducts formerly known as liquiducts from Thermal Expansion. This will heat up the interior of the Smeltery to allow you to process materials. The left side of the GUI shows your processing slots, with 9 slots added for every layer of empty space inside your smeltery.

The middle of the GUI is the storage tank where the liquid metals are stored. This allows you to see how much liquid metal is inside the Smeltery, what kinds of metal, and in what order they will be drained starting from the bottom. The bar along the right side of the GUI is how much lava the Smeltery currently has left. Having less lava means the ores heat up slower. No lava prevents any smelting from occurring. To use the liquid metal, you must drain the liquid into a Casting Basin or a Casting Table.
